The Trump administration on Thursday announced a new wave of federal fraud charges tied to Minnesota government-funded programs, intensifying national attention on the state’s growing reputation as a hotspot for large-scale public aid fraud investigations.
The announcement came the same day that Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock was sentenced to nearly 42 years in federal prison for orchestrating what prosecutors described as one of the largest pandemic-related fraud schemes in American history.
Federal officials say the latest cases involve tens of millions of dollars allegedly stolen from taxpayer-funded healthcare and social service programs in Minnesota. Investigators claim some suspects billed Medicaid and disability programs for services never provided, while others allegedly used fake diagnoses and fraudulent claims to obtain government funds.
Feeding Our Future Remains the Centerpiece
The Feeding Our Future scandal continues to dominate public debate in Minnesota years after the FBI first raided the nonprofit in 2022.
Federal prosecutors alleged that the nonprofit and its network falsely claimed to serve millions of meals to children during the COVID-19 pandemic while diverting money for luxury homes, cars, jewelry, businesses, and overseas investments.
Authorities say the organization fraudulently claimed reimbursement for more than 90 million meals and improperly obtained roughly $250 million in federal funds.
On Thursday, a federal judge sentenced Bock to 500 months in prison after jurors previously found her guilty on multiple fraud and conspiracy charges. Prosecutors had argued she was the “mastermind” behind the operation.
Trump Administration Escalates Fraud Crackdown
Trump administration officials said Minnesota has become a major focus in the federal government’s broader anti-fraud campaign.
According to federal prosecutors, the newly announced cases include healthcare and autism-related fraud schemes totaling approximately $90 million. Officials accused defendants of exploiting programs designed to help vulnerable children and disabled residents.
Federal authorities also signaled that additional investigations remain ongoing.
The Department of Justice has increasingly portrayed Minnesota as a national example of government oversight failures involving pandemic-era relief funding and social service programs.
Political Fallout Intensifies
The scandal has created intense political pressure across Minnesota.
Republicans have accused state leaders of failing to act despite repeated warning signs, while critics argue political pressure and fears of discrimination accusations weakened oversight efforts.

At the same time, Somali-American leaders and community advocates have warned against using the fraud cases to unfairly target the broader Somali community in Minnesota, noting that many Somali Americans also condemned the fraud and cooperated with investigators.

As of 2026, nearly 80 individuals have been charged in connection with the Feeding Our Future investigation, with dozens already convicted or pleading guilty.
Federal investigators say additional fraud probes involving childcare, housing assistance, healthcare billing, and social welfare programs remain active.
The case continues to reshape political discussions in Minnesota and nationally, with growing demands for stricter oversight, stronger auditing systems, and criminal accountability for large-scale public fraud schemes.
