Community leaders warned that many Somali families now fear increased government scrutiny, immigration enforcement actions, and political rhetoric that portrays immigrants as security threats rather than contributors to American society.
At the same time, the NAACP is continuing legal challenges against congressional voting maps in several states, arguing that Black voting power is being weakened through gerrymandering. Civil rights advocates say recent court rulings have made it harder to protect minority voting rights, sparking concern among organizations fighting for equal political representation.
